Introduction

Ripper Demons are one of the 4 Raptor Mobs, and provide by far the highest EXP rates among the group. This guide will go through the methods which AoE ripper demons.

​

​

⬥ Low kph single target killing for undergeared players will not be elaborated on in this guide. In short, bring your best melee gear with darklight, vampscrim and vampaura and use the ripper demon cave with the midday skybox.

​

Stats

⬥ slayer XP per kill : 2721.5

⬥ Optimal kills per hour: ~1650 melee (~930 magic)

⬥ Optimal slayer XP per hour : ~4.49M melee (~2.53M magic)

Desirable Drops

⬥ Ripper Demons have a valuable loot table containing: Wines of Zamorak, Rune salvage, coins and a variety of high level herbs.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• This makes them one of the better tasks to do for gp.

⬥ When killed with Binding Contracts in your inventory, they are captured and turned into a Binding Contract (Ripper Demon) ripperpouch

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• This provides a large buff to the GP/h of Ripper Demons, currently adding an extra coins 60,009 in revenue per kill.

⬥ For the Slayer log, Ripper Demons also drop:

Location and How to Get There

The two most popular locations to kill ripper demons are:

  1. The Ripper Demon cave, South-east of the Al-Kharid alkharidlode lodestone through a shortcut near the eastern gate. The ripper demons here are not aggressive.

  2. The Ripper Demon horde west of demonic ruins. The ripper demons here are aggressive.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎a. This is the location used for conventional slaying of rippers, as slayer in the wilderness is now risk-free.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎b. You can get here using the wildernesssword teleport to the Herb patch or the games necklace teleport to Corporeal Beast. Travelling via the demonic ruins is risky as you may aggro a Kal'gerion demon and get spec'd.

Mechanics

Slaughter
⬥ When engaged from a distance, Ripper Demons will immediately teleport to the player and cast Slaughter slaughter, which deals triple damage if you move.     • This makes them extremely easy to stack up for AoE damage.     • This also incentivises staying at the same spot when AoEing. ​
Death from above
⬥ Ripper Demons gain adrenaline whenever they autoattack.     • When the bar fills up, they will jump and land where the player was standing shortly after, dealing up to 32,000 hard typeless damage resulting in an instant kill.     • This can be avoided by moving away from your original location immediately upon seeing them jump.     • When AoEing, good DPM is cruicial to avoid this mechanic. ​
Aggression
⬥ If the player is below 35% HP, all nearby Ripper Demons will immediately aggro to the player.     • Usually, using devo when low HP is desirable to prevent being stacked out. ​
Death spin
⬥ When killed, Ripper Demons will spin and hit any nearby players with weak rapid melee hits per tick in a 3x3 area, which can deal large damage if stood in.     • This mechanic is the main reason deflectmelee and enhdev4 are essential for killing rippers.

Method: Active Melee

Due to health sustain from vampscrim, abyssal armour spikes abyssalarmourspike abyssalarmourspikesalloy which deal rapid damage to rippers, and a plethora of AoE damage options cleave bd meteorstrike cane quake dragonhalberd eofspec, melee is by far the best style at killing ripper demons.

⬥ 2023-AUG-29 - IMPORTANT NOTE

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• After the removal of the tagging mechanic, this method has sub 100% accuracy even with slayerhelm accuracy buff and may not work well/work at all.

Strategy

⬥ Teleport to the herb patch using wildernesssword and run north then east until you see the first ripper.

⬥ Ensure the following are active:

⬥ To set up the method, follow the steps below (shown in video example below):

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Use surge + dive and place your cannon

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Let autoretaliate fire off meteorstrike and AoE down the intial group of Rippers attacking you immediately.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Move between the lava vents which funnels all Rippers onto the same pile.

⬥ Targeted bd should be used to build adrenaline as often as possible (DO NOT HAVE mob ON YOUR GEAR).

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Try to bd rippers with less than 20k or so HP to reliably get resets.

​

⬥ The general rotation is based on cycling 3 things that work on 1 minute cycles - meteorstrike, zgs spec and demonslayer

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Equip reaverring and use meteorstrike, take advantage of critbuff to use as many dragonhalberd eofspec as possible.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Your AoE abilities still take priority over dragonhalberd eofspec

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Use zgs spec + demonslayer after critbuff expires. Equip rod. Focus on getting bd resets.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• After zgs spec ends meteorstrike will soon be up, sip adrenrenewal to use it ASAP if necessary.

Method: Low effort Magic

Using a similar strategy as the active method, players can use magic with legacy to almost AFK ripper demons, autocasting bloodbarrage, assuming the player owns best-in-slot magic armour (refer to preset below).

​

⬥ With damage reduction from animatedead, cryptbloom passive cryptbloomhelm, infernalpuzzlebox, deflectmelee with aos and enhdev4, players should be able to sustain themselves purely with bloodbarrage healing alone.

​

⬥ In legacy, after almost every action, the player should click back on a ripper to prevent attacks from being delayed in legacy, this includes:

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Eating/drinking potions

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Looting

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• Noting bindingcontract

⬥ IMPORTANT: You must target the elite ripper when it spawns to kill it before the jump as bloodbarrage deals only 60% to non-main targets.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎• This is the only caveat which prevents the method from being completely AFK.

Strategy

Turn on the scriptureofwen before you teleport. Teleport and walk up to the area barely out of Ripper aggro range. Check the following:

  1. Deflect melee and Affliction active deflectmelee affliction

  2. Elder overloads and weapon poison +++ are active elderovl weppoison

  3. Autocasting blood barrage and animate dead is active bloodbarrage animatedead

⬥ Walk up and make sure you attack the demons between steps. This is the most dangerous part of the method as the first few demons are the slowest to kill since oldakcoil is not active yet and you have no ruthless3 stacks. Keep track of the demons on you and look out for jumps (refer to example video below).

⬥ Drink aggressionpotion once you are comfortably set up with oldakcoil active.
